CCBHC Certified Peer Specialist -COMCARE

Pay:  $11.49 per hour plus Critical Pay of 10%, making the rate of pay $12.64.  

Work Schedule: Varied schedule M-Sa, 40 hours per week, between 7a - 7p  


Provide goal-directed, medically necessary peer support services to adults with severe and persistent mental illness, as a member of the Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team to assist them to remain in the least restrictive environment.  Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.


Service Provision Peer Support Services

  • Peer Support using identified and accepted methods to remediate symptoms of mental illness and/or improve emotional and functional well-being, while meeting the expectations of the CCBHC ACT model.
  • Help consumers regain the ability to make independent choices and to take a proactive role in treatment.
  • Share “lived experience” and model successful behavior and strategies.


Peer Support Group Facilitation

  • Peer Support will make sure that groups are self-contained and goal directed to assist consumers in minimizing or resolving the effects of mental and emotional impairments.
  • Peer Support will make sure that group facilitation is conducted with a recovery focus and using strategies for effective facilitation.



  • Complete progress notes in accordance with COMCARE and CCBHC guidelines which meet requirements for medical necessity, goal-directed treatment and client response to treatment within prescribed timelines.
  • Complete Notes for Record, Precautions statements and authorizations for release of records as required and/or recommended.
  • Enters no show and cancellations for accuracy and completeness of medical record.
  • Enter AIMS data as needed.


Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Must self-identify as a person in recovery from a behavioral health condition and is able to fulfill the KDADS requirements to become a Certified Peer Support Specialist. Must have a valid Kansas Driver’s license and current proof of automobile insurance. Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle and meet driver qualification standards as set forth in Sedgwick County’s Fleet Vehicle Operation and Usage policy.  Meet the specifications as outlined in the CMHC/CCBHC licensing standards and pass KBI, SRS child abuse check, adult abuse registry, and motor vehicle screens.  Must complete orientations provided by Sedgwick County and COMCARE.
