Communications and Outreach Liaison Assistant COVID-19

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8am - 5pm 

The Communications and Outreach Liaison Assistant is a temporary position in the Sedgwick County Health Department that supports the COVID-19 response. The position provides administrative support for the Liaison Officer for the COVID-19 Response, helping coordinate activities with external partners including healthcare facilities, schools, nonprofit agencies, and private businesses. The Assistant coordinates and schedules meetings, prepares correspondence, reviews procedures and presentations, and attends webinars to stay up to date on COVID-19 best practices and guidance from state and federal agencies. Ensures patient confidentiality.

  1. Provide administrative support for Liaison Officer’s work with external partners
  • Coordinate and schedule meetings with external and internal partners
  • Prepare and distribute meeting minutes and follow up on action items
  • Prepare correspondence
  • Review and format procedures and presentations
  1. Provide administrative duties on Liaison/Communications Team
  • Maintain log and ensure follow-up on requests from Incident Commander and Agency Administrator
  • Prepare agendas and educational material packets for outreach events
  • Assist in preparation of educational materials
  • Maintain schedule of Outreach and Communications activities and communicate activities with other areas of COVID-19 response
  1. Research COVID-19 communications materials and provide situational awareness
  • Attend state and national webinars and distribute notes to COVID-19 response staff
  • Research state and national agency information for best practices and newest guidance on communicating COVID-19 topics to the public, vulnerable populations, and external partners

 

Minimum Qualifications:  High School Diploma or equivalent supplemented by administrative and/or clerical/secretarial courses.  One year of experience in responsible secretarial work or any equivalent experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and computer skills are required.  Current certification or license.

 

Preferred Qualifications:  Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in health-related or business field or equivalent.  One year of work experience in a public health department or healthcare setting.  Bilingual in English and Spanish or Vietnamese.
