Director of Crisis Services - COMCARE

Work Schedule: M - F, 8a - 5p with on-call duties 

 

The Director of Crisis provides leadership and direct day-to-day operation of programs related to Crisis Intervention Services, mobile crisis services, Mental Health and Assisted Outpatient Treatment Courts and several liaison services, the Sedgwick County Offender Assessment Program, and Morris Place.

 

Program Management

  • Program development
  • Embraces evidence-based practices
  • Ensures customer service is of high quality
  • Ensures timely access to services
  • Monitors budget
  • Assure clients served meet timely access requirements
  • Initiate program design changes in response to changing service needs, resources, and advances in the field
  • Works with other community providers and agencies regarding shared clients
  • Provides client and family interventions when needed
  • Serves on committees and task forces relevant to suicide prevention
  • Cultivates partnerships and represents COMCARE when interfacing with the community
  • Completes or oversees completion of state reports, client surveys, operational procedure reviews, outcome metrics, and is engaged in organizational improvement activities

Personnel Management

  • Recruits, hires, reviews work, coaches, disciplines, and evaluates employee performance
  • Conducts regularly scheduled supervision sessions and team meetings
  • Oversees staff orientation and training
  • Ensures that all staff are trained and evaluated
  • Assures adequate opportunity for staff to maintain licensure and registration
  • Ensures compliance with regulations and policies for outpatient programs
  • Meets regularly with direct reports to discuss issues and assure personnel issues are addressed in a timely manner

Executive Leadership

  • Works with other Program Directors and administrators to develop, implement, and monitor strategic plan
  • Participates in state activities pertaining to program areas
  • Represent COMCARE on local and state meetings and committees
  • Works with COMCARE Executive Team members to develop internal policies
  • Monitors grant opportunities and assists with the application process
  • Works with other Executive Team Directors to help ensure financial stability of the organization and assure access, cost, and quality measures are on target
  • Assists in the development of recruitment and retention strategies and the promotion of self-care techniques

 

Minimum Qualifications:  Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology or other Human Service Field.  Demonstrated knowledge of mental health and substance use disorders and intervention, as well as an ability to understand and apply applicable state and federal regulations relevant to mental health, substance abuse, HIPAA and corporate compliance.  Demonstrated ability to form quick and lasting relationships and ability to communicate audit findings in ways that others do not feel criticized.  Knowledge and experience with collaborative leadership and working within teams, as well as, across and up/down an organization is required.  Five years’ experience in a community mental health setting with supervisory experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  Must hold respective licensure at the Master level with the State Behavioral Science Regulatory Board.  Must pass criminal and abuse/neglect registry and professional back ground checks.  Valid Kansas Driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance required.
