The Health Information System IT Specialist COVID-19 is a temporary position in the Sedgwick County Health Department (SCHD) to support COVID-19 response and recovery. The position works on a team to support the IT applications that are used by the SCHD and assists with IT inventory and service requests. This position is a power user who will learn the applications, provide support to staff, and serve as a point of contact to the software/ application vendors. 

 

Provide implementation and application support for the Athena electronic health record system

  • Provide IT support for the implementation of core service offerings, data integration, and billing
  • Work with internal team members, vendor, and clients to manage tasks, complete project action items, and resolve issues.
  • Support team members to identify solutions for client and vendor specific requirements.
  • Communicate status updates to supervisor and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with running reports.

 

Provide IT customer service and support for Health

  • Serve as subject matter expert and vendor point of contact for identified computer applications.
  • Provide virtual and in-person trainings to staff.
  • Assist in writing procedures and creating training materials and presentations.
  • Set up staff workstations.
  • Troubleshoot IT-related issues.
  • Monitor and update IT inventory.
  • Monitor and update staff access to IT systems.
  • Perform check-in/check-out of staff IT equipment.
  • Assist team where needed.
  • Drive to SCHD locations to provide support.

 

Monitor and complete IT service ticket requests

  • Create IT system requests
  • Track and report on the status of service requests.
  • Communicate effectively with team on status of IT requests to ensure timely completion.
  • Identify challenges to completion of IT requests and work to resolve issues.
  • Respond to and complete assigned tickets according to performance standards.

 

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma, GED or equivalent. Two years of work experience or training in IT, IT customer support, or the use of personal computers including computer-based products. One year of experience with Microsoft Suite or similar systems. Per Sedgwick County policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance. In order to comply with the requirements of the federal health care staff COVID-19 vaccination mandate, all employees of COMCARE and the Health Department must be fully vaccinated. All offers of employment are contingent upon submission of vaccination documentation prior to start date. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: Associate’s degree or higher in computer technology, computer science, or related field. Three years of work experience or training in IT, IT customer support, or one year of work experience implementing or using an electronic health record system in a medical clinic or hospital. CompTIA A+, RHIT, or AAPC COC Preferred.
