Justice Reinvestment Initiative Clinician - COMCARE

Work Schedule: M - F, 8am - 5pm with some varied hours 

This position serves to fill a gap for individuals with Mental Illness or Severe and Persistent Mental Illness diagnoses in the community on probation for felony offenses for which their mental illness puts them at risk of revocation. Utilize a multi-faceted approach which includes but is not limited to; mental health intake and/or assessments to provide access to services, providing consultation to Intensive Supervision Officers (ISO) to advance approaches and interventions with these individuals, collaborating with a multi-dimensional team, providing brief and targeted therapeutic services, and providing referrals to behavioral health case managers.

 

Service Provision Evaluation Services and Therapy.

  • Complete client intake/assessment to include history, presenting problems and diagnoses using DSM-V criteria.
  • Individual and group therapy using identified and accepted methods to remediate symptoms of mental illness and/or substance use treatment to improve emotional and functional well-being as needed.
  • Conduct risk assessments as needed to address safety of clients.
  • Initiates outreach to increase engagement.
  • Provide brief therapy to address immediate mental health needs of clients in crisis.
  • Provide clinical consultation and guidance to COMCARE JRI Case Managers as appropriate.

Treatment Planning.

  • Prepare quality treatment plans in collaboration with client and/or guardian.
  • Facilitate treatment plan review, addressing updates and progress on goals with client’s treatment team if applicable.

Documentation.

  • Complete intake summaries, risk assessments and agency referral documentation within 48 hours of meeting with a client to complete an intake for services.
  • Complete Notes for Record, precautions, authorization for release of records, releases of information, safety documents and other documentation as required and/or recommended within established deadlines.
  • Enter AIMS data as needed.
  • Completes discharge summary when closing intake assignments.
  • Completes court reports or treatment summaries within required timelines as set by the entity requesting these documents.
  • Respond to Utilization Review staff feedback forms and make corrections as needed.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s Degree or higher. Must be licensed by the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board as an LMSW, LMFT, LMLP, LPC, or LP. Must have a valid Kansas Driver’s license and current proof of automobile insurance. Meet the specifications as outlined in the CMHC licensing standards and pass KBI, SRS child abuse check, adult abuse registry, and motor vehicle screens. Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle and meet driver qualification standards as set forth in Sedgwick County’s Fleet Vehicle Operation and Usage policy. Must complete orientations provided by Sedgwick County and COMCARE.

 

Preferred Qualifications: May be clinically licensed by the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board as an LCP or LCPC, LCMFT, or LSCSW. Must complete orientations provided by Sedgwick County and COMCARE. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
