This position is mission critical to ensure that medical supplies and equipment are available for EMS field crews so patient care can be delivered. This position also works with internal and external stakeholders and vendors to ensure the logistical needs of the division are fulfilled in areas of medical supplies, medical equipment, facilities, duty uniforms and ambulance maintenance.


Inventory Management and Control;

  • Maintains EMS Central Medical Supply facility by inventory control, physical inspections, and computer comparisons.
  • Distributes mission critical supplies and equipment to outlaying hospitals and EMS Posts.
  • Performs daily and weekly checks on all medications, medical supplies and medical equipment used by EMS, looking for any deficiencies.
  • Assists in forecasting for highly used items or expiring medications so we maintain mission critical inventory.
  • Receives medications, medical supplies and durable medical equipment from various vendors.
  • Keeps accurate records and maintains database of all medications and medical supplies that are distributed to area hospitals and EMS Post.


Facility, Ambulance, and Biomedical Equipment;

  • Performs minor maintenance, repairs, and assists in maintaining EMS facilities. Maintains records of these repairs.
  • Will perform minor maintains, repairs and services ambulance module. This may include interior/exterior lighting, cabinetry, exterior/interior compartments and cot mounting systems.
  • Assists with testing, diagnostics, calibrates and repairs 12-lead monitors/defibrillators, ambulance cots, AED’s, portable suctions, and all related medical equipment.
  • Tracks maintenance and repairs in a shared database, generates reports on service repairs.
  • Inventory management of all durable medical equipment on all ambulances and support staff vehicles.


Uniform Management and Control (Quartermaster)

  • Assists in evaluating, managing and maintaining EMS uniform inventory.
  • Works with the distribution of uniform items for newly hired employees, this will including sorting by size and type of uniform.
  • Will receive used uniform items form employees, tracking that inventory through a database.
  • Assists in receiving and delivery of uniform items to our local vendors, tracking this inventory through a database.
  • Keeps accurate records and maintains database of all uniform items that are distributed to employees or received by EMS.


Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent supplemented by one year of technical courses in medical, medical equipment repair or related field. Microsoft Proficient. One year of experience in inventory/warehouse management and control or an equivalent. One year experience in medical equipment repair or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Must have a valid State of KS Driver’s License. Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle and meet driver qualification standards as set forth in Sedgwick County’s Fleet Vehicle Operation and Usage policy.


Preferred Qualifications: Two years or equivalent of educational/vocational training in the medical or medical equipment repair or related field. Two years of experience in inventory/warehouse management and control or two years of experience in the repair and maintenance of EMS equipment or any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Certified as a Kansas Emergency Medical Technician (EMT).
