Vaccine logistics Specialist COVID-19

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with some evening and weekend hours possible 

The Vaccine Logistics Specialist COVID-19 is a temporary position in the Sedgwick County Health Department (SCHD) that supports the COVID-19 response. The Logistics Specialist is detail-oriented and ensures vaccine tracking and inventory management within and between Health Department vaccine locations, including fixed clinic site and mobile and partner clinic sites. The Specialist works at the main Health Department location at 1900 E. 9th or is assigned to support Health Department vaccine dispensing locations, depending on need. The Specialist assists the Vaccine Logistics Coordinator with monitoring vaccine storage and handling, tracking and maintaining vaccine inventory and supplies at Health Department locations, and distributing vaccine between Health Department and partner locations. Ensures patient confidentiality, follows HIPAA policies, and follows written procedures, medical protocols and standing orders.

 

Monitor vaccine storage and handling at Health Department vaccine clinic locations

  • Between and at assigned site, follow procedures to properly handle and store vaccine
  • Assist in monitoring temperatures of all vaccine refrigerators and freezers and logging daily reports
  • Properly document and report required vaccine storage information to state and federal agencies
  • Assist supervisor with updates to procedures

Assist in organizing, maintaining and tracking vaccine inventory

  • Assist supervisor with vaccine tracking and reporting, including vaccine logs of transfers completed after each clinic and Vaccine Inventory Tracking form
  • Assist with completing daily report of vaccine numbers
  • Assist with organizing and logging vaccine supplies, including ancillary kits and personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • On planned or short notice, transport vaccine between Health Department locations, including fixed site and mobile and partner sites
  • As needed, perform duties of Vaccine Logistics Coordinator

Support Mobile Vaccine Clinics

  • As assigned, serve as Vaccine Logistics Specialist at mobile and mobile partner clinic sites
  • Ensure vaccine is properly used and stored at mobile and mobile partner clinic sites
  • Serve as subject matter expert to businesses for vaccine tracking, handling, and storage
  • Communicate needs, concerns, and issues to supervisor
  • Participate in briefings and after action improvement sessions
  • Update procedures as needed
  • Ensure county car is clean and fueled up

 

Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent supplemented by courses in office skills. One year of work experience with data entry, accounting, financial administration or procurement, logistics or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. One year of work experience with Microsoft Excel and Word. Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and computer skills are required.

 

Preferred Qualifications: One year of work experience in data management and analysis. One year of work experience in a public health department or healthcare setting. Work experience in logistics in an Incident Command Structure (ICS) during an emergency incident.
