The Student Intern Position is a non-sworn part-time position for a graduate-level student enrolled in either a LMSW, LMFT, LMLP, or LPC program. This position is assigned to the Wellness Unit.

 

Counseling and Education

  • Provide counseling to sheriff employees and their family members.
  • Provide referrals when necessary.
  • Provide education and training to employees and family members.

 

Projects

  • Work with wellness unit staff on projects related to mental and emotional wellness.
  • Assist with Critical Incident Stress Debriefings.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Must be currently enrolled in a master’s level Social Service program, and have completed at least one year of the two year master’s program. Per Sedgwick County Policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a mental health setting. Experience working with first responders or desire to do so.
