Install and maintain all types of traffic control devices on county highways

 

Installs and maintains traffic control devices

  • Devices include, but not limited to, signs, pavement markings, traffic signals and safety barriers
  • Completes work orders and equipment/supply forms for work assigned.
  • Assists in maintaining traffic control device inventory
  • Responds to emergency call out situations involving traffic control devices
  • Performs preventative maintenance and cleans assigned equipment
  • Wears PPE and follows local, state and federal safety regulations

 

Performs data collection

  • Field studies and data research for engineering and traffic investigations
  • Assists with the biennial County-wide traffic count
  • Performs manual work associated with operations

 

Participates in snow and ice removal operations at one of five maintenance yards

  • Operates a dump truck with blade and spreader to clear roads of snow and ice
  • Operates loader to load material for snow & ice removal
  • Maintains equipment in good condition
  • Ensures equipment is cleaned, fueled and loaded for follow on shift
  • Reports problems immediately to shift supervisor

 

Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. Valid  Kansas Commercial Driver’s License Class A or B w/air brakes & tanker endorsements or ability to acquire one within one year.

 

Preferred Qualifications: One year experience w/traffic control devices. IMSA Work Zone, IMSA Level I Signs & IMSA Level I Markings Certification.
