Communications Coordinator

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with some evenings and weekends 

 

The Social Media Coordinator serves as the primary social media contact for routine and emergency content. The Coordinator supports communications efforts for Sedgwick County organization and departments by working with liaisons; plans and conducts communications programs designed to create and maintain a favorable image for Sedgwick County; promotes Sedgwick County branding, awareness of services and confidence in the Sedgwick County Government brand. 

 

Serves as the primary person responsible for social media messaging and other methods of communicating with the public and employees.

  • Researches and develops content for the County's social media outlets.
  • Works with Webmaster to coordinate website content to ensure accuracy, relevancy and consistency.
  • Researches opportunities to streamline and enhance web presence and services to citizens.
  • Researches and presents recommendations for new communication methods and opportunities, including social media.
  • Coordinates social media efforts for the organization as a whole.
  • Participates in the research and development for video concepts, new trends, and ways to present information.
  • Develops and produces live video content.

 

Helps coordinates internal messaging and spearheads employee and stakeholder engagement efforts.

  • Manages the employee bulletin, E-line (intranet) content, employee social media accounts, employee emails, and other ways to communicate with employees.
  • Researches opportunities to improve employee communication and engagement efforts. Reviews and revises documents sent by Communication Liaisons and assists with organizational messaging including speeches, talking points, editing for County leadership.
  • Coordinates large internal campaigns and events, including the United Way Campaign and Employee Blood Drives.

 

Photographer for the County and elected officials.

  • Takes photographs of County events, facilities, staff and elected officials and as necessary.
  • Creates, maintains and archives the photo catalog of the County.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in communications, public relations or a related field. Two years' experience in communications or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in communications, public relations or a related field. Three years' experience in communications or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies.
