Work Schedule: Monday-Friday- 7:00am-3:30pm - 4701 S. West Street 

 

 

Helps supervise and participates in the work of crew engaged in the support infrastructure projects involving stream maintenance, bridge & concrete and road maintenance. Participates in snow and ice removal operations.

 

Train and work with crew members and other subordinate workers

  • Operate all assigned equipment with a high degree of proficiency
  • Ensure crew members are trained to operate assigned equipment
  • Find opportunities for crew members to develop equipment operation skills in a variety of settings
  • Perform preventative maintenance and makes minor repairs to equipment
  • Perform manual work associated with equipment operations

 

Assist the Foreman in planning, scheduling and assigning work to crew

  • Plan, direct, and supervise the work of a small crew
  • Plan and supervise the setup and operation of work sites to include bridge, drainage, and County preventative maintenance projects
  • Assist the Foreman in evaluating job performance
  • Wear PPE and enforces local, state, and federal safety regulations

 

Participate in snow and ice removal operations

  • Operate a dump truck with blade and spreader to clear roads of snow & ice
  • Operate a motor grader for snow and ice removal when necessary
  • Ensure equipment is in working condition
  • Ensure equipment is cleaned, fueled, and loaded for follow on shift
  • Report problems immediately to shift supervisor

 

Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. Three years of Public Works or road construction experience. Per Sedgwick County Policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance. Must have or obtain valid Kansas Commercial Driver’s License Class A w/air brakes and tanker endorsements.
