Helps supervise and participates in the work of a maintenance crew engaged in a wide variety of construction, maintenance and repair projects involving County infrastructure. Participates in snow and ice removal operations.
Train and work with Equipment Operators and other subordinate workers
- Operate all assigned equipment with a high degree of proficiency
- Train equipment operators on assigned equipment
- Provide opportunities for operators to develop skills on assigned equipment
- Operate equipment when necessary for road construction, repair, and maintenance.
- Perform preventative maintenance and make minor repairs to equipment
- Perform manual work associated with equipment operations
Assist the Area Foreman in planning, scheduling, and assigning work to crew
- Plan, direct, and supervise the work of a small crew
- Plan and supervise the setup of construction work zones
- Assist the Area Supervisor in evaluating job performance
- Act as on-call for after hours & weekends for emergency callouts or designates a crew member
- Wear PPE and enforces local, state, and federal safety regulations
Participate in snow and ice removal operations
- Function as a shift supervisor for snow and ice removal operations
- Operate a motor grader for snow and ice removal when necessary
- Ensure all equipment is in good working condition
- Ensure all equipment is cleaned, fueled, and loaded for follow on shift
- Communicate problems/concerns immediately to next shift supervisor
Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. Three years Public Works or road construction experience. Valid Kansas Commercial Driver’s License Class A with tanker endorsement.
