Facilities Manager COVID-19

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm with some evening and weekend hours possible 


This is a temporary position in the Sedgwick County Health Department (SCHD) for COVID-19 Response. The Facilities Manager COVID-19 provides day-to-day support to SCHD facilities used for COVID-19 Response, including facilitating service and maintenance requests and moving furniture, equipment and supplies. The Manager works on operations projects with vendors and the Property Specialist, identifying and implementing COVID-19 Response needs such as intra- and inter-facility changes. The Manager coordinates safety and emergency operations procedures among all SCHD COVID-19 facilities.


Provide Day-to-Day Support for SCHD COVID-19 Response Facilities

  • Facilitate or perform service and maintenance requests
  • Move equipment and supplies
  • Move or re-arrange internal furniture or offices
  • Identify solutions for space design and furniture needs
  • Assure proper storage of supplies once used to maintain usefulness.
  • Assist as needed in COVID-19 Response


Coordinate operations projects

  • Determine need for facility changes
  • Assist with obtaining quotes and approvals
  • Support contract and logistics personnel on equipment and facility-related agreements
  • Provide proposals or recommendations when necessary for facility-related items or concerns
  • Meet with vendors and property owners to discuss concerns and solutions


Coordinate safety and emergency operations among all SCHD COVID-19 facilities

  • Ensure regular safety training for staff at COVID-19 facilities
  • Perform monthly safety assessments at COVID-19 facilities
  • Ensure emergency plans are written and training is provided to staff at each location
  • Submit reports to Risk Management regarding all facility issues
  • Ensure fleet vehicles are maintained according to procedures


Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent experience in managing contracts, accounts payable, purchasing, safety and facility management. Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are required.


Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in related field. One to three years of experience in facility or property management.
