Applies herbicides to noxious and common weeds; participates in grounds maintenance and snow/ice removal procedures.
Performs property inspections; mixes, handles, and applies herbicides to noxious and common weeds in a manner that is safe, effective, and efficient.
- Inspect, survey, map, and report weed infestations on properties
- Mix, load, and apply pesticides in accordance with the product’s label and safety data sheets.
- Properly record and report herbicide applications
- Competently and safely drive and operate all equipment necessary to perform these tasks. This equipment includes spray trucks, all terrain, and utility task vehicles.
Participates in grounds maintenance activities
- Mow, trim, edge, and maintain county right of way and bike paths.
- Cultivate, seed, fertilize, and apply mulch or erosion control on road right of way, drain, stream, bridge, and private property restoration.
- Trim and /or remove trees and brush on county properties.
- Treat right of ways, concrete medians, county yards, and other properties with long term control herbicides.
- Safely drive and operate all equipment necessary to perform maintenance activities. This equipment includes tractors, loaders, and ride on mowers.
Participates in snow and ice removal operation procedures
- Operate a dump truck with blade and spreader to clear roads of snow and ice.
- Operate loader to load material for snow and ice removal.
- Maintain equipment in good condition.
- Ensure equipment is cleaned, fueled, and loaded for following shift.
- Troubleshoot and report problems immediately to shift supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Six months of experience in Pest Control, agriculture, lawn services, herbicide, horticulture, or a related field. Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License in any category or ability to aquire within six months of employment. Kansas Commercial Driver’s License Class B with Air Brake and Tanker endorsement or ability to acquire within six months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications: One year commercial pest control, turf pesticide applications or similar activity. Kansas Commercial Pesticide Applicator’s License in Category 9A (Noxious Weeds).
