Patient Billing Representative-3-COMCARE

Aids in the revenue collection process for COMCARE services that are billed to various payers.  Duties include insurance updates and follow-up on accounts receivables to maximize COMCARE revenue collections.

 

Retrobill applicable charges on Medicaid eligible clients from various reports

  • Work semimonthly Medicaid eligible report
  • Validate patient Medicaid eligibility dates
  • Correct coverage on the patient account and retrobill any affected charges
  • Provide notification to other staff when additional billing information is needed

 

Processing Accounts Receivable transactions

  • Audit and prepare daily deposit of cash receipts and submit to Finance
  • Process returned checks
  • Process billing ledger adjustments in the billing system for secondary claim processing
  • Process patient invoices on a monthly schedule
  • Respond to requests for information from various sources
  • Prepare and submit insurance claims to Insurance companies
  • Audit Medicare client records for required documents

 

Monitor status of aged accounts with various payers

  • Verify accuracy of denials received from assigned payers
  • Research outstanding claims and make any necessary corrections to the claim so that it can be paid correctly
  • Process reconsiderations to applicable payer in an effort to have claim paid correctly
  • Research payment discrepancies and process necessary recoupments when needed
  • Communicate with provider representatives regarding claim projects

 

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. One year office or administrative support. Must have a valid Kansas Driver’s license and current proof of automobile insurance. Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle and meet driver qualification standards as set forth in Sedgwick County’s Fleet Vehicle Operation and Usage policy.    Must pass pre-employment testing of Excel 70% to be completed after interview.   Meet the specifications as outlined in the CMHC/CCBHC licensing standards and pass KBI, DCF child abuse check, adult abuse registry, and motor vehicle screens.  Must complete orientations provided by Sedgwick County and COMCARE. In order to comply with the requirements of the federal health care staff COVID-19 vaccination mandate, all employees of COMCARE and the Health Department must be fully vaccinated. All offers of employment are contingent upon submission of vaccination documentation prior to start date. 

 

Preferred Qualifications: Coursework in HealthCare billing. One year experience in healthcare billing or related field.
