Professional Development Facilitator - CORRECTIONS

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM 

 

 

Performs administrative work that supports the various programs within Sedgwick County Department of Corrections (SCDOC).  The Professional Development Facilitator will deliver, plan, develop, and schedule educational content that will be utilized via the Learning Management System (LMS), or in person with SCDOC.

 

Professional Development

  • Formulates and delivers training for DOC, using best practices, available resources, and research.
  • Assist in new initiatives or innovative practices related to professional development.
  • Foster ongoing encouragement, feedback, and coaching designed to improve knowledge, skills, confidence and competency in EBP and Core Correctional Practices to improve outcomes.
  • Works with other training professionals to explore needed changes in content and updates curriculum accordingly.
  • Ensures that documentation requirements (rosters, evaluations, and acknowledgment forms) are complete and accurate.
  • Assists with recruitment and skill development of departmental trainers.
  • Continual research for leadership concepts, learning and implementing new trends and ways to present information, staying up to date on technology advancement.
  • Creates, schedules, and plans course content within the Learning Management System (LMS).  
  • Works closely with Professional Development Office Specialist to ensure accurate data entry.
  • Provides training at different locations within DOC; must be able to transport training materials and supplies to locations.

 

Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)

  • Continuously seeks and supports innovative and evidence based approaches, practices, and processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Professional Development program
  • Prepares training rooms and equipment for training sessions; maintains inventory of training supplies and notifies when ordering is needed
  • Works with CQI Officers and department supervisors to identify skill development needed and creates educational content.
  • Participate in the implementation of department initiatives regarding organizational improvement.

 

Job Knowledge

  • Proficient in Managing Aggressive Behavior (MAB)/SafeClinch, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma Informed Care, and additional training topics specific to corrections.
  • Knows and understands facilitation skills, communication methods, and adult learning styles
  • Knows and understands departmental and county policies
  • Working knowledge of training locations, available technology and equipment

 

Minimum QualificationsFour years of experience in Corrections, training, or facilitation.  One year of experience creating educational content incorporating applicable software (PowerPoint, Canva, etc.). Up to four years of experience may be substituted with education that provides applicable knowledge and skills. Per Sedgwick County Policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance. Must have access to personal passenger vehicle to complete the driving duties of the position.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Two years of experience creating educational content incorporating applicable software (PowerPoint, Canva, etc.). Bachelor’s degree within human services field.
