Registration Associate - COVID-19

This is a temporary position in the Sedgwick County Health Department for COVID-19 response. The Registration Associate provides support for Health Department COVID-19 sampling or vaccine operations, including client registration, scheduling, documentation, forms completion, data entry and communications. The Registration Associate may be called upon to support other teams as workload requires. Registration and documentation at the sampling site is performed under full Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The Associate ensures processes comply with departmental policies and procedures, processes client data, and ensures client confidentiality.


Perform registration duties at the Health Department COVID-19 sampling site or vaccine dispensing site.

  • Greet client and verify client name
  • Ensure correct documentation of client information
  • Perform documentation audit
  • Provide accurate and up-to-date information about COVID-19 testing and vaccine to clients
  • As needed, assist with packaging and shipping specimens according to protocols
  • Drive to SCHD clinic locations


Perform accurate and timely data entry into electronic records

  • Accurately enter patient data into electronic client management and laboratory requisition systems
  • Audit data to verify information is correct and complete
  • Correct errors timely


Perform other COVID-19 response duties

  • Accurately update client accounts on a daily basis
  • Document daily activities
  • Communicate needs, concerns, and issues to supervisor
  • Talk to clients over the phone and by email using good customer service and listening skills.


Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, including or supplemented by course work in bookkeeping, accounting, or related fiscal work or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, abilities and competencies. Per Sedgwick County policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid Kansas driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance. In order to comply with the requirements of the federal health care staff COVID-19 vaccination mandate, all employees of COMCARE and the Health Department must be fully vaccinated. All offers of employment are contingent upon submission of vaccination documentation prior to start date. 


Preferred Qualifications: Post-high school course work in bookkeeping, accounting, or related fiscal work. One year of experience in fiscal work, billing, and/or customer service environment. One year experience working in a public health department or healthcare facility. Work experience in a public health department. Bilingual in English and either Spanish or Vietnamese.
