The Systems Administrator ensures the reliable, secure, and efficient operation of the organization’s server and infrastructure environment.  This position encompasses managing server administration, backup systems, Office 365 services, and virtual infrastructure to support critical business operations.  Key responsibilities include minimizing downtime through rapid response and troubleshooting, managing hardware and software installations, and ensuring system compatibility across the network.  The role involves maintaining backup systems, administering suer accounts, implementing security policies, and optimizing server and virtual environments for optimal performance.  The position requires proactive planning of upgrades, detailed documentation, and collaboration with vendors and internal teams to maintain infrastructure standards, security, and efficiency, all while ensuring high-quality service delivery and support for organizational needs.

 

 

Server Administration

  • Provide rapid response and corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Install, configure, and customize server hardware and software to meet organizational requirements.
  • Maintain software and troubleshoot issues.
  • Communicate with vendors to obtain technical support for server-related hardware and software.
  • Configure and manage server interfaces with other software applications and computer networks.
  • Support departmental administrators in the installation and maintenance of network systems.
  • Complete scheduled maintenance tasks, including Tech Weekend work.
  • Document and manage service tickets.
  • Oversee project timelines and manage major server-related projects.

 

Infrastructure Management

  • Manage and maintain backup systems, ensuring license compliance, installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Commvault and Think Guard software.
  • Monitor and manage critical backups.
  • Administer Office 365 user accounts, including assigning licenses, configuring Exchange Online mailboxes, administering OneDrive, and managing Microsoft Teams settings.
  • Implement and manage security features, including Conditional Access policies, monitoring security reports, responding to alerts, and ensuring compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Provide user support and troubleshoot Office 365 applications, staying updated on new features and updates to enhance user experience and system efficiency.

 

Software and Services Administration

  • Organize and maintain the OU structure to meet organizational requirements, promote GPOs for departments, and ensure accurate documentation of the GPO environment.
  • Plan and implement system upgrades with minimal service interruptions.
  • Manage permissions and security groups in Active Directory.
  • Upgrade and maintain ESXi, vSphere, and SAN environments.
  • Optimize virtual infrastructure by offering solutions and evaluating costs, proactively implementing new technologies and best practices, and managing drive and space upkeep with LUN management.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications: One (1) year of experience in Office 365 administration. One (1) year of experience in Windows Server administration. One (1) year of backup administration. Experience can be substituted with education which provides the necessary knowledge and skills. Per Sedgwick County Policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Two (2) years of experience in Office 365 administration. Two (2) years of experience in Windows Server administration. Two (2) years of backup administration. Experience can be substituted with education which provides the required knowledge and skills. CompTIA A+, CompTIA N+, MCITP, MCSA or MCSE.
