Vaccine Analyst - COVID-19

Work Schedule: 8 AM - 5 PM Monday through Friday (May work evenings and weekends)  


This temporary position is in the Sedgwick County Health Department for COVID-19 response. The Vaccine Analyst COVID-19 collects, analyzes, and reports COVID-19 vaccine data and creates reports for documentation purposes and for communication to internal Health Department staff, County Leadership, external health partners, and the public. Consultation and collaboration with Health Department staff is required. The position will perform COVID-19 related data collection, data entry, descriptive data analysis, and, if needed, more advanced analyses under guidance from supervisor. The position follows data cleaning procedures, writes written reports, and collects data and creates surveys as needed with guidance from supervisor. The position will maintain, collect, and analyze data within project management software, appointment scheduling software, and other vaccine-related software datasets.


Collect, manage, and report COVID-19 vaccine logistics data, including vaccine doses received, dispensed, distributed to partners.

  • Perform accurate data entry
  • Report accurate doses in state reporting systems
  • Within project management software, retrieve and report accurate doses dispensed and distributed
  • Create surveys for partner reporting
  • Maintain project management software
  • Perform data quality assurance checks, including physical counting of vaccine, in a systematic method
  • Drive to SCHD locations to collect data


Serve as subject matter expert for COVID-19 vaccine appointment scheduling software

  • Monitor appointment levels daily for each appointment schedule
  • Communicate throughout each day with vaccine clinic and vaccine logistics staff regarding appointment levels
  • Create new appointment schedules for SCHD and other clinics
  • Work with webmaster to place SCHD schedules on website for use
  • Provide technical assistance to SCHD staff and partners who use the scheduling software


Analyze COVID-19 related data and support SCHD COVID-19 response

  • Perform descriptive and, as needed, more advanced data analyses
  • Create and interpret graphs and other visualizations of the vaccine data
  • Create daily, weekly and ad hoc reports and plans for leadership and staff
  • Assist in maintaining data dashboard, as needed
  • Provide data and writing support to Vaccine and Data Branches and Planning Section


Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in public health, data analytics, information technology, or related field with data analysis coursework. At least one year experience with data management and analysis. Two years of experience with Microsoft Excel.  Strong communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and computer skills are required. Per Sedgwick County policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid Kansas driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance. In order to comply with the requirements of the federal health care staff COVID-19 vaccination mandate, all employees of COMCARE and the Health Department must be fully vaccinated. All offers of employment are contingent upon submission of vaccination documentation prior to start date. 


Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in public health, data analytics, information technology, or related field with data analysis and data management coursework. Coursework in epidemiology. One year of work experience in a public health department or healthcare setting. Two years of work experience with data management and data analysis; experience with SAS, SPSS or other database software. One year of experience or coursework in infectious diseases.
