Van Driver - Aging

Work Schedule: Varied, M - F, 6:00am - 7:00pm 

 

Provide origin to destination, ramp and/or lift accessible passenger transportation in a safe, professional and timely manner. The Federal Transit Administration identifies this job as a safety sensitive position and therefore is subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

 

Transport of passenger(s) from origin to destination

  • Reports to work at assigned time(s); provides notice of absence and uses leave time in accordance with Division policy; flexible and adaptable to work schedule and route changes.
  • Performs pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and documentation.
  • Drive specialized vehicle(s).
  • Safely operates assigned vehicle(s).
  • Complies with traffic laws, Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Department of Transportation (DOT) and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations.

Customer Service

  • Courteous and positive communication with passengers.
  • Provide assistance door-to-door as needed or requested.
  • Securement of mobility devices, medical equipment and carry-ons.
  • Ensures boarded passenger safety.
  • Defensive and courteous driving.
  • Fare collection (cash drop-box usage, receipt documentation and ride card logging).

Maintenance, Data Entry and Filing

  • Proper use of vehicle(s), tablet(s), and other transit related equipment.
  • Provide updates to schedule regular maintenance and/or immediate maintenance needs as well as up-keep (clean interior and exterior bi-weekly) of assigned vehicle(s).
  • Assist with annual vehicle inspections (KDOT and/or City of Wichita).
  • Completes daily data transfer of written records into scheduling software with accuracy in event of data/network transfer outage or issues from tablets.
  • Timely filing of driver’s vehicle/passenger paperwork with accuracy.

 

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Two (2) years commercial driving or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Experience using navigation equipment such as GPS devise used in automobiles. Valid State of Kansas CDL Driver’s License with A or B passenger endorsement. Valid Dept. of Transportation (DOT) physical exam medical card qualifying individual to drive a commercial vehicle.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Three (3) years commercial driving. Experience using navigation equipment such as tablet with GPS software and auto vehicle (AV) locator for route and scheduling updates. Bilingual skills a plus.
