WIC Site Supervisor - Health

Work Schedule: M - F, 8am - 5pm with one night per week until 6:30pm 

This is a supervisory position within the local Women, Infants and Children’s (WIC) Program that functions as a WIC site supervisor. Directly supervise staff assigned to the clinic. Oversees clinic operations while complying with WIC, County and Division of Health policies and procedures. Reports directly to the WIC program manager.

 

Personnel Management:

  • Assists in the hiring of new staff.
  • Orientates and trains new staff.
  • Supervises staff assigned to the WIC clinic site.
  • Prepares and provides individual coaching for staff development and evaluations.

Clinic Operations:

  • Monitors schedules and staffing for maximum productivity.
  • Handles client complaints at the WIC site and reports to WIC administration.

Client Services:

  • Assesses nutrition risk for client eligibility.
  • Determines frequency and type of client follow-up appointments.
  • Uses goal setting and stage of change principles to assess client’s state of behavioral change.
  • Provides nutritional counseling to clients and families.
  • Accurately collects client’s medical data.
  • Uses motivational counseling methods.
  • Makes appropriate community and medical referrals.
  • Accurately reads immunization records.
  • Provides community outreach.
  • Provides breastfeeding education, promotion and support.
  • Prescribes appropriate WIC food package.
  • Authorizes and coordinates special formula issuance.
  • Schedules future WIC appropriately for program requirements.
  • Completes documentation in the program software timely and thoroughly.
  • Reports success stories.

 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in foods, Nutrition or related Science and completes a Dietetic route accredited by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or a graduate of an accredited educational program in nursing. Licensed in the State of Kansas as a Registered Nurse or a Registered Dietitian. Registered dietitian must also be registered with the Academy on Nutrition and Dietetics.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Two or more years WIC experience with personnel and managerial experience. Registered Dietitian membership with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics is optional. Certified as a breastfeeding educator preferred. Bilingual and interpreter preferred – be able to pass medical fluency and/or medical interpreter testing.
