This position is located at Lake Afton Park, and is required to be on-site daily. Sales Clerk for retail store operation and Park use permits. Assists customers with shelter reservations for Sedgwick County Park and Lake Afton Park. Point of contact for all questions concerning park operations. This position is required to work during some weekends, weekdays, and holidays. The store clerks must also be courteous and professional with customers at all times.
Sales
- Conduct sales transactions using a Point-of-Sale System.
- Assist customers with finding, selecting, and purchasing retail items, including live bait.
- Assist park users with selecting and purchasing the appropriate Parks Department use permits.
- Assist Parks Customers with reserving and paying applicable fees for Parks shelter rentals at Lake Afton Park and Sedgwick County Park.
Store Operations
- Keep retail items and shelves stocked and ready for purchase. Report any shortages of inventory to Parks Administrative Officer.
- Keep store and work space clean and organized by dusting shelves, countertops and cabinets, sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning glass windows and doors, and removing trash.
- Greet, interact, and monitor Parks defined customers while they are in the store.
- Inform Assistant Parks Superintendent of any facilities or grounds maintenance or safety issues raised by Parks defined customers.
- Answer phones and assist callers whenever possible. Direct callers to, or inform the appropriate Parks staff member of, questions and concerns from Parks defined customers.
Customer Service
- Treat all Parks defined customers fairly and equally with professionalism, courteousness, and respect.
- Effectively communicate information to customers about Parks properties, activities, and amenities, as well as permits and retail products for sale.
- Use conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques to resolve issues with upset or unhappy customers, as well as to prevent individuals form becoming a health or safety risk to themselves, staff, and customers.
Minimum Qualifications: Six months of experience in customer service, cash handling, administrative work, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications: One year of experience operating a Point of Sale System. High School Diploma or equivalent. 18 years of age or older.
