COMCARE of Sedgwick County is seeking a forward-thinking Executive Director who believes the best solutions are built through partnership. This is a high-impact opportunity to lead a dynamic behavioral health organization of over 500 employees and manage a $70 million dollar budget.

 

As Executive Director, you will provide overall administrative, clinical, and financial leadership for COMCARE as a licensed Community Mental Health Center (CMHC), Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), Residential Care Facility (RCF), Addiction Treatment Facility, and accredited helpline. 

 

We are seeking a collaborative leader who can translate strategy into action, strengthen partnerships, and support innovation while ensuring services remain clinically strong, financially sound, and community-focused. This role prioritizes a client-first approach, emphasizing care that respects individual needs and outcomes while responsibly managing resources.

 

This position plays a major role in community collaboration by helping strengthen the local system of care, representing COMCARE in public and professional settings to build relationships that support long-term success.

 

In this role, you will:

  • Lead with vision, collaboration, and accountability across COMCARE programs and services
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to advance strategic goals and strengthen the community system of care
  • Oversee clinical, operational, regulatory, and financial performance
  • Support financial stability through budget oversight, grant management, and sustainable funding strategies
  • Communicate effectively with staff, leadership, regulators, legislators, and community partners
  • Promote innovation, continuous improvement, and strong public stewardship

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, nursing, business or public administration. Eight (8) years in a behavioral health organization, two (2) years in a senior-level management position. Current State Behavioral Science’s Regulatory Board License. Per Sedgwick County policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance. Meet the specifications as outlined in the CMHC/CCBHC licensing standards and pass KBI, DCF child abuse check, adult abuse registry, and motor vehicle screens.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree or doctorate from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, nursing, business or public administration. Ten (10) years of demonstrated effective leadership in a large behavioral health environment.
