Work Schedule: Tuesday-Friday- 8:30am-5:30pm, Saturday 7:00am-3:30pm- 801 Stillwell

To receive, classify and package materials delivered to the county household hazardous waste collection program for proper disposal.

 

Receive Hazardous & Non-Hazardous Items at HHW Facility

  • Unload materials (hazardous & non-hazardous) from vehicles, while providing satisfactory customer service to all that are encountered
  • Record, process, and store materials in their correct D.O.T. hazard class.
  • Operate packing/storing, recycling, transportation and other equipment used in handling household hazardous waste.
  • Prepare items for shipment for disposal per D.O.T. & KDHE requirements.

 

Facility Maintenance

  • Performs routine and basic maintenance on the facility and equipment.
  • Clean the facility according to the set schedule of duties.

 

Maintain Proper Certifications & Skills

  • Ensure all certifications are valid as well-being current and up to date annually.
  • Attend advanced training and schooling and/or seminars that are job pertinent.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral & written instructions.
  • Ability to safely handle household & business hazardous waste.

 

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Minimal experience in handling household hazardous waste or any equivalent. Valid State of Kansas Driver’s License.

 

Preferred Qualifications: 40 hour Haz-Woper, Forklift Certification, Standard First Aid, & CPR
