Provide Information and Referral/Assistance (I&RA) in person, by phone, email or text to older adults, caregivers, professionals and the general public who are seeking resource information. Provide immediate answers, referrals, or route to appropriate individuals when necessary. Complete intakes by phone or in person for internal programs. Provide information and options to individuals seeking and reviewing Medicare benefits as a part of the Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansas (SHICK) program. Assist with administrative support duties for the Department of Aging and Disabilities.
Customer Service
- Answer phone calls, follow-up on messages, and assist walk-in consumers, communicating with the public, caregivers, and professionals with accurate and up-to-date information and resources.
- Offer unbiased, consumer focused information, assistance, and referrals to help individuals access services and supports to remain in the home or location of their choice.
- Provide support for two advisory councils.
- Attend all meetings and take minutes.
- Prepare and sent out timely notifications and updates to all members.
Direct consumer benefits counseling
- Provide Senior Health Insurance Counseling for Kansans (SHICK) and assist with Medicare counseling for open enrollment period.
- Assist with benefit counseling trainings and outreach activities as needed.
- Enter contacts’ data timely and assist with scheduling.
Complete customer intakes for various programs, including pre-nursing home assessment (CARE), Senior Care Act (SCA), and Older Americans Act (OAA).
- Complete accurate and timely data entry on each consumer interaction and intake with the electronic record Management Information System – Nterfuse (MIS).
- Maintain proficiency in Microsoft Office, Management Information System (internal and state system).
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or state approved equivalent. Two years of experience in office based and/or data entry position. Two years of experience in the field of aging, physical disabilities, and/or intellectual/developmental disabilities (ID/DD). One year of experience accessing community resources for older adults and people with disabilities. One year of experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must obtain and maintain SHICK Counselor Certification upon hire.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in working for an Area Agency on Aging (AAA). Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university Social Work, Gerontology, community/human services, or related field. Inform USA, Information and Referral/Assistance Certification. Bilingual in English and a language other than English.
