Performs professional assessment and group facilitation with adult and/or juvenile clients. Responsibilities include teamwork, oral communication skills, adherence to fidelity of the group model, accurate data collection, reporting and documentation of services in client records. Work requires mastery of group facilitation techniques to manage, teach and engage clients in sessions.
Client Supervision
- Provides direct services to clients, which may include case management and facilitation of client groups with adults and/or juveniles.
- Requires establishing and maintaining professional client relationships, motivating clients, effectively managing conflict, and consistent delivery of high-quality services.
- Performs pat down searches and screening with metal detectors to prevent weapons from entering the workplace.
Records Maintenance
- Requires planning to prepare rosters, lessons, materials and handling of logistics for group sessions.
- Monitors inventory of supplies and equipment necessary for group programming.
Case Management
- Completes necessary documentation to provide summary of lessons conducted, behavior and participation of clients into the required records management system(s) within the prescribed timeframes.
- Receive and communicate concerns, problem-solve and maintain positive working relationships with supervision officers, staff members in other departments and community agencies.
Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years of age. One year of experience in probation, parole, social work, counseling or related work with juvenile and/or adult offenders. Professional references are required to verify the related work experience. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Sociology, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, or a related field. Transcript verifying education credits is required. Per Sedgwick County Policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance. Personal passenger vehicle for use when county vehicle is not available. (Mileage reimbursement is provided by County.) Pass legal background check, Child and Adult Abuse & Neglect Central Registry checks, KCJIS Security Policy (fingerprint) check, and pre-employment screens. Must also meet the required conditions contained in KSA 65-516 and KAR 28-4-356(d), (1-5).
