The Advanced Emergency Medical Technician (AEMT) provides patient care in accordance with Kansas Board of Emergency Medical Services (KBEMS) regulations and Sedgwick County EMS Protocols. AEMT’s provide safe transportation to and from health care facilities, as well as, transfer of care to persons with equal or higher level of care.
Quality out of Hospital Health Care
- Provide restricted levels of advanced life support and emergency care in accordance with both KBEMS regulations and Sedgwick County approved protocols
- Establish a cohesive and productive working environment to enhance overall patient care
- Maintain a safe work environment to minimize risk of injury
- Determine most effective method of transport to and from health care facilities
- Coordinate care with receiving facilities of situation in a timely manner
- Provide verbal reports and transfers care to persons with equal or higher level training
Documentation
- Maintain accurate and complete electronic reports pertaining to patient care
- Maintain accurate and complete Physician Certification Statement forms
- Maintain accurate and complete vehicle maintenance, automobile condition, equipment condition, and facility condition electronic reports.
- Comply with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations including HIPAA
Operational Readiness
- Maintain readiness to respond to emergencies during an assigned shift
- Maintain vehicle, equipment, and station activities in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures
- Notify immediate supervisor of any found deficiencies that impact normal operations
- Respond to emergent/non-emergent calls in a safe manner minimizing risk to crew and public
- Notify appropriate personnel of the role, capabilities, and responsibilities of an AEMT
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. State of Kansas AEMT Certification. NREMT certification may be accepted until hire. Per Sedgwick County Policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver’s license without restrictions.
Preferred Qualifications: Two years of experience in emergency medical services.
