The Part-time Overdose Prevention Student Intern implements and evaluates projects related to opioid and stimulant overdose prevention. Projects include providing education and performing data collection, data analysis and project evaluation. This work will improve community health by preventing disease and promoting wellness. The employee will provide support during public health emergencies.

 

Plan project activities

  • Write project plan and review existing studies and data
  • Determine performance measurements
  • Perform data assessment and create logic model
  • Prepare communication materials and database

 

Collect and analyze data related to opioid and stimulant overdoses

  • Develop and manage surveys and other data collection tools
  • Monitor data from partners
  • Clean data and perform descriptive analyses
  • Evaluate interventions

 

Collaborate and communicate with community partners

  • Work with partners to collect and interpret data
  • Utilize the Community Health Assessment and Community Health Improvement Plan
  • Utilize Public Health Accreditation Board Standards for health equity, data analysis and communication and community engagement
  • Create reports, presentations and website content for partners and the public

 

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree.  Must be currently enrolled in or graduated (within six months) from a master’s level or higher healthcare, public health or social services program. One year experience or training in data analysis. One year experience with Microsoft Suite applications, such as Excel. Must complete Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA) IS 100 and 700 courses within 30 days of employment.  Additional trainings may be required.

 

Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency in English and a language other than English; proficiency is demonstrated by passing a standardized test.
