The Part-Time RSVP Volunteer Coordinator plans and manages volunteer services for the Sedgwick County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP), an AmeriCorps Seniors program. Working a 15-hour per week schedule, this position recruits, trains, supports, and recognizes volunteers; maintains volunteer records; and assists with grant compliance and reporting. The coordinator builds strong relationships with volunteers.
Recruiting & Engagement
- Recruit 55+ adults through outreach, presentations, and referrals; conduct orientations and interviews; and match volunteers to appropriate service placements.
- Maintain regular communication with volunteers to support engagement and retention.
- Recognize and celebrate volunteer contributions through events, awards, and ongoing appreciation.
Administrative Support
- Maintain accurate volunteer records, track hours, service activities and required reports for grant compliance.
- Assist RSVP Program Coordinator with compliance with AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP grant compliance.
- Collect stories, outcomes, and impact data for grant narratives.
- Prepare correspondence, reports and outreach materials.
Program Support
- Monitor volunteer placements for quality, impact, and compliance.
- Represent RSVP at community events, meetings, and coalitions.
- Promote RSVP through presentations, media, and community partnerships.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. One year of work experience in data entry and customer service. Per Sedgwick County Policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance.
Preferred Qualifications: Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university. One year of work experience coordinating volunteers and/or working with older adults. Experience with grant management preferred. Bilingual in English and a language other than English.
