This position is mission-critical in supporting EMS personnel by serving as the primary point of responsibility for uniform management, organization, and accountability. This position ensures all issued uniforms, outerwear, and related equipment are properly tracked, distributed, maintained, and replaced in accordance with agency standards and policies.

 

 

Uniform Management and Control (Quartermaster)

  • Serves as the primary point of responsibility for EMS uniform inventory, organization, accountability, and distribution.
  • Issues uniforms, outerwear, and related items to newly hired and current employees in accordance with SCEMS policies.
  • Receives and processes returned uniform items; evaluates condition and determines redistribution, repair, or replacement.  
  • Tracks all issued and returned uniform items in a designated database to ensure accountability and accurate records.  
  • Maintains a structured uniform storage system ensuring accurate sizing, labeling, and organization.
  • Coordinates with approved vendors for ordering, alterations, embroidery, repair, and replacement of uniform items.
  • Conducts periodic uniform inventory audits and reports discrepancies or shortages to Logistics leadership.
  • Assists in monitoring uniform par levels and recommends reorder quantities to maintain operational readiness.
  • Supports professional appearance standards by ensuring timely distribution and availability of required uniform items.

 

Inventory Management and Control

  • Assists with maintaining EMS Central Medical Supply facility organization and stock rotation.
  • Distributes mission critical supplies and equipment to outlaying hospitals and EMS Posts.
  • Performs daily and weekly checks on all medications, medical supplies and medical equipment used by EMS, looking for any deficiencies.
  • Assists in forecasting for highly used items or expiring medications so we maintain mission critical inventory.
  • Assists with receiving, unpacking, and stocking medical supplies, medications, and durable medical equipment from vendors.
  • Keeps accurate records and maintains database of all medications and medical supplies that are distributed to area hospitals and EMS Post.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications: One year experience in inventory management, logistics, warehouse inventory, or related field.  Minimum of High School diploma. Per Sedgwick County policy, this is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance.

 

Preferred Qualifications: One year of experience in uniform management, apparel distribution, tailoring/alterations, or related field. Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare, biomedical engineering or related field. State of Kansas certified Emergency Medical Technician.
